Phone numbers overview

This article will explain phone numbers in Synthflow AI.

Managing phone numbers in Synthflow AI

Synthflow AI allows you to manage phone numbers for inbound and outbound calls and SMS messaging. You can configure active numbers, addresses, and verified caller IDs in the Phone Numbers tab.

a. Active Numbers

Active phone numbers in Synthflow AI are essential for handling AI-driven interactions. Each Assistant requires a phone number to function properly. You can manage your numbers through the dashboard, where you can:

  • Assign numbers to specific Assistants.
  • Track call and SMS activity associated with each number.
  • Configure settings for voice calls and messaging workflows.

Phone number options

Synthflow AI supports various phone number options:

  • Purchased numbers: You can buy numbers directly through Synthflow AI for testing. For long-term use, it's recommended to purchase numbers from Twilio or another SIP provider.
  • Geographical availability: You can buy phone numbers in Synthflow from the U.S., Canada, and Australia. Use a telephony provider for local numbers in other regions.
  • Assignment: You can use one phone number for one inbound and multiple outbound Assistants. No two inbound Assistants can use the same number.

b. Addresses

Addresses are required when purchasing phone numbers in most countries due to regulatory compliance. A valid address must be provided before acquiring a number.

How to set up an address:

  • Create an address in the dashboard.
  • Assign the address to any phone number that requires one.
  • Verify compliance to ensure smooth activation.

Once assigned, the address is linked to your active numbers and can be managed as needed.

c. Verified Caller IDs

A Verified Caller ID ensures that outbound calls display the correct phone number, increasing call trustworthiness and reducing the chance of being flagged as spam.

Validating a Caller ID:

  • Submit your number for verification in the Synthflow dashboard.
  • Follow the verification process, which may include receiving a code or completing specific validation steps.
  • Once validated, use the number for outbound calling.

🚧

Verified Caller ID is not currently available for numbers using SIP Trunking.

Managing your phone numbers

In the Phone Numbers tab, you can:

  • View all active numbers and their assigned Assistants.
